TRAWLERS CATCH
I am Trawler skateboarder
since 1976 and if there is such a thing a skateboard
"anorak" nerd then I am the full length parka version with furry trim
around the hood!!
Skateboarding is and has
been the glue that hold things together in my life.
When I walk into my garage and gaze at my collection it takes me back in a
time warp through the years through countless good times and great friends I
have experienced.
I have been collecting for
five years now and I buy stuff equally for the rider and the graphic and then
the memories. I sometimes buy to sell and fund my trips abroad but the nucleus
of my collection (most of what you see below) will never be prised from my
sticky fingers!
The beauty of Neil Blender decks and the intricate work of PUSHEAD are to my
mind modern day masterpieces. I also have a soft spot for Duane Peters and his
boards, in my opinion he is the all-time ruler of modern skateboarding.
Looking down my stash you will see stuff from my heroes-Salba the pool
master, Bod Boyle UK world vert champ 1990.
Craig Johnson and Allen Losi remind me of Shut Up and Skate Southsea 1990 (the best comp ever on british soil). Tom Groholski the most modest skater I have ever met. I had to have an Abrook deck cos we are brothers from different mothers!!
Its never too late to
start a collection. In ten years time today's boards
are gonna be worth something. Look out for Consolidated stuff. anything from
Mark Gonzales at Real, Ed Templeton, Hook Ups Japanese animation and even
Birdhouse Hawk decks.
